Currently the only option for IAP subscription period for wearables is monthly.
The system itself does support other periods (look for “mSubscriptionDurationUnit” at Web IAP for Galaxy Watch).
This would give sellers more flexible pricing options, enticing consumers to purchase.
For example, the standard period tier pricing would be possible:
- 1 Month for 1 USD
- 3 Months for 2 USD
- 12 Months for 3 USD
Most consumers will see 12 months for 3 USD as a bargain, and will purchase the product.
Also, there is the psychological aspect of making a purchase. I have to make the decision once a year (for yearly subscription) to purchase something, and not every month. The fact that the subscription is auto recurring is irrelevant in this case.
