Inquiry Regarding Support for Transparent Overlay Apps on Samsung Tiz

Dear Samsung Developer Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently developing a web application for a Samsung Smart TV, specifically model UE43BU8500KXXC running Tizen OS version t-ksu2ebdeuc-1661.6. My goal is to create an overlay app with a transparent or semi-transparent background that can display notifications or alerts over other content.

Despite following all recommended guidelines—such as enabling background-support in the config.xml, using CSS with transparent and rgba backgrounds, and testing various approaches—I have been unable to achieve any transparency in the app’s background. Instead, the app’s background remains fully opaque black, covering the entire screen.

Additionally, I have attempted to use the tizen:window element or window type settings for transparency, but these are either unsupported or cause packaging errors.

Could you please confirm:

Whether the current Tizen version on my TV model supports transparent or semi-transparent overlay applications developed with web technologies?

If transparency is not supported for web apps, is there any alternative approach recommended by Samsung to achieve overlay notifications?

Whether native or .NET apps support transparent overlays on this TV model and what the best practices would be?

Any documentation or resources you could provide related to transparent overlays on Samsung Smart TVs.

Thank you very much for your assistance. I look forward to your guidance to help me move forward with my project.

Best regards,
