Watchface installed from the Companion App

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been mentioned before but I wonder if others have had this issue…

I use the template provided by bredlix for my companion apps, but I’ve noticed that if a user installs the companion app and then uses it to install the watchface, the watchface does not automatically become the active watchface on the watch device.

Instead, the user must long-press on the watch, swipe to the ‘Add watchface’ screen and then scroll down to the downloads section to find the new watchface. So the new watchface is effectively hidden from view unless you know where to look.

Is there anything that be done to make a watchface installed from the companion app automatically become the active watchface?

Rob

It’s so hit and miss, I use the same template and I have seen the results you get and also results where the user installs the watch face from the companion app onto their watch and then are asked if they want to set the watch face which is great. I have also seen results where the first button that pops up on the watch face after install is the freaking uninstall button??? I thought I read somewhere that it is actually a WFS issue and it depends on which version you’re using. Regardless, I think that only if you are well versed in Android Studio can you actually control/understand what is going on.
