The preview (upper right) refuses to show “Small Box Complication S1”
When I “run on device” it is present.

The default provider doesn’t always have the preview option, such as app shortcut and the Favorite contact. That’s why you can’t see it. But if you select others default provider except the mentioned two they will show.
The default provider tried to give you feel how your design will be on real device. But as the output is provided by the complication provider on the real watch, that’s why all the time the preview and the watch output is not exactly same.
