I have a question regarding the texts used in Themes’ design while submitting a portfolio.
Can generic fonts like Times New Roman…etc be used in the design ? or Does the text itself has to be personally designed too ?

Typography is a very delicate discipline. I doubt that you have to make them yourself. Make sure that you have the license to use them in a portfolio, like having a Adobe Cloud subscription and you should be fine.
