Assistance Required with SMS Sending Issue - Generic Failure on Samsun

We are reaching out to seek assistance with an issue that we are currently facing in our Android application.We are using a Samsung S24 Ultra device to send SMS for verification purposes, but we are encountering a generic failure when attempting to send SMS messages to certain mobile numbers, despite having a good network connection and an adequate SMS balance. Additionally, manually sending SMS from the device is also not working.

Details of the Issue:

  • Problem: SMS sending failure, resulting in a generic failure response. This issue occurs both within our application and when trying to send SMS manually.

  • Device: Samsung S24 Ultra

  • Operating System: Android 14.

  • Network: Good network connection available.

  • SMS Balance: Sufficient balance for SMS sending.

  • Failure Details: The issue occurs when sending SMS to certain mobile numbers, but not all numbers are affected. We receive the error message: “generic failure.” This occurs both for SMS sent through the app and when attempting to send SMS manually through the native messaging app.

We have implemented the following method to send the SMS programmatically using SmsManager``

Despite this approach, we continue to experience SMS sending failures on certain numbers, and the problem is not limited to the app but also affects manual SMS sending.

This is most likely a carrier issue from the receiving number side. Please try sending SMS to the same failed numbers from other devices and other carriers to verify.
