I note that the change history for WFS 1.8.7 mentions “optimizing aspects of … resources”. I wonder if WFS has taken it upon itself to edit image files (presumably to be of more appropriate sizes). If the algorithm is sloppy, it could result in duplicating images instead of reusing them.
