Progress bar (custom shape)

Hello

How can I make a progress bar on a specific shape…lets say a star or heart like this picture?

The only way I can imagine is stack like 20 pictures in different progression and put an opacity tag to show 1 picture in each specific progress

But that not dynamic progress
And use a watch hand only work best with circles so…

Anyone knows better way or idea?
I will appreciate that

Check out the sample watch face Night Run or Shuttle 85 to see how they do the progress bar. They use Circles and Time but it can be heart shaped and steps just as easily.
