Samsung Log Video White Paper

I’m working in Film and Video Post-Production related field.
Today (2025/03/21) Blackmagic Design released DaVinci Resolve 19.1.4 which included Samsung LUTs for working with Samsung Log video.

I wondered why it’s not included in Color Space Transform OFX.
So I decided to investigate by looking for the White Paper.

After written the transform following what’s being provided in the paper and put it to test.
Something doesn’t add up, the result from Samsung Log Encoding Function seems to be stating the wrong type of Log.
It is using the natural log instead of log10(which I took the cue from the Decoding Function).
I put it to test and my guess was correct.

This might be the reason the transforms aren’t yet included in DaVinci’s Color Space Transform.

Please make corrections in the paper to avoiding confusion in implementation.

Hello,

Samsung Log encoding function already uses log10 rather than natural log and it is also used in the white paper.

The Samsung Log video specification is still relatively new, and the Software support for Log video is improving at a rapid pace. Check out the latest version of DaVinci Resolve (20), which should provide improved support for Samsung Log Video

Best Regards,
Ahsan

Thank you for replying.
I must have missed something from the document.

Checked out Resolve 20 came with the support in the Color space transform.

Thank you again for clarification.
