35 is the current minimum requirment, but 36 is the latest, I think. You can probably ignore the complaints about 35. Going straight to 36 will future-proof you for a bit longer, but might mean that some devices can’t use that build.
java - Upgrading targetSdk from 34 to 35; necessary to check entire code? - Stack Overflow
I hope this post would help
Do I understand that correctly … I can ignore the message?
According to the post
I believe you can, ignore or suppress the message. But I’m not sure if it would reflect on google console. You can try to see if it works on console.
I updated a Companion app and sent to Google. Finger cross …
So you just changed the targetSdk = 35 and upped version name/code? Fingers crossed. Let us know how it goes man! Brave soul you are…hehe.
Yes, I have, but the message remained in the console. I have now increased the targetsdk to 36 and increased the Java version from 1_8 to 11 and submitted again.
Have you also taken out the link to your play store? Apparently, that is considered advertising by Google and if you have declared your app has no ads then you are violating the policy so it may not pass just based on that alone.
I only inserted the Devid … has never been a problem. The update has been approved but the message of the target API 35 is still available.
I know someone who has gotten rejections from it just so you know. Of course, I am not going to go back and change my old companion apps to get rid of the Dev ID but any of my new ones, I stripped that button out. So the app passed in Google Play Console? No more policy violations?
I remember the last time we had to update all our watch faces for Wear OS 5 (first WFF Format), the approvals sometimes came first and then the update to your policy violation would follow after. I recall it tool up to a day or 2 sometimes. I would just wait and see…give it a day or so.
Keep us posted!
That’s good to see. Unfortunately I waited too long to update from WFS 1.6.10 to WFS 1.8.7+ so a lot of my faces have to be updated first I’ll get to the companion app later.
