Can I Give Away My WFS Designs via the Store

Hello,
I have no interest at this time in selling the watch faces I make using WFS. But I would love to be able to share them for free via the store (or some other means with equally simple access to the public). Is that possible? If so, how does one go about getting that set up?

I do understand that I can share them via WFS to people who have the WFS app installed and know how to use the Run on Device method of downloading them to their watches. But I’d like to be able to share them with less technical folks.

Thanks,
Galaxy Watch 7 (bluetooth), 40mm
Galaxy S23 Ultra phone
Windows 11 PC

  • I don’t recommend sharing the wfs file. If you want to send someone the watchface (without publishing on playstore) generate a .apk and send it instead.
  • You cannot post watchfaces on galaxy store. If you want to publish them on a store (officially), it must be playstore. First you create an account then you publish it, here’s a tutorial: publishing

Thank you. Can you tell me how to generate an .apk file from a .wfs file? Thanks!

Check the topic “Generate the watch face package” in the link I posted. In there, by default, the option “Publish type” is set to “AAB”, change it to “APK” and follow the rest of the instructions.

It appears you’re saying there is no way to generate an .apk file (publish) without signing up with the Playstore as a developer and paying a fee to do so. Am I understanding that correctly?

Thanks, again, for your time.

No, not what I’m saying. You can generate de .apk using the Watch Face Studio. The instructions on how to do that are the ones I mentioned, topic “Generate the watch face package” on the link I posted in my first comment. (Just to clarify, the “Publish” button inside WFS is just a button to generate files that can be published, it won’t, actually, publish the watch face).

Once again, to clarify, you only need to sign up for playstore if you wish to release the watchface on their store…
