How can i create a WF like that using WFS?
Is it built using Kotlin code?
What are tags for charts?
Anyone got early access to WFS betas? Why doesn’t Samsung provide these programs.

You can not. Those faces were not made using WFS.
I think google provides the android studio for advanced coding, so Samsung will not.
Thank you,
I’m just trying to ask the guys from samsung.
My watch faces are similarly complex and I know how they make them.
The question here is why samsung/google also made watch faces not by WFS but forced other developers to use WFS or the WFF format for production.
No one from samsung has given an answer here, it’s crazy.
Why would Samsung provide you a free tool so that you can make money on Google Play Store?
The watch face installed on the watch is the result of the work of a team of developers and designers. They are part of the product.
WFS is part of the ecosystem, and so are the watch faces created with the tool.
Look at my work, I don’t use WFS.
WFS can’t create watch faces like the one pictured in the first question.
We create on android studio, not die stamping on WFS.
Do you see the problem here?
They also use AndroidStudio for their watch faces, but force other developers to use WFF/WFS from 2025.
I know that.
It would be fine if the WFS ecosystem and AndroidStudio were treated equally.
However, from July 10th, to bring watch faces to WearOS 5, it is mandatory to use WFF/WFS.
And obviously, upgrading/converting watch faces created from AndroidStudio to WFF is almost impossible.
WFF/WFS does not have enough logic to handle them.
I dont think WFS would be the only tool for WFF. They force the WFF, but if I understand it right, you still should be able to use android studio.
I think they still stick to the original “job split”. WFS for designers to quickly stitch together a design and slap it onto watch (so far even for hobbyists), AS for developers (understand programmers) of anything unsupported by WFS.
Yes, I understand that, I’m just talking about the limitations of WFF.
AndroidStudio is currently just a text editor for the watchface.xml file
Since they decided to implement the law first without preparing the tool, the only third-party solution currently is Samsung’s WFS.
But clearly WFF is a collaboration between Google & Samsung.
Watch Face Format | Android Developers
Created in partnership with Samsung, the Watch Face Format is a declarative XML format to configure the appearance and behavior of watch faces.
And another question is WFF support on older WearOS versions. As far as I know, developers have to push multiple bundles for each WearOS model, older wearOS uses arbitrary code, while wearOS 5 has to use WFF. Furthermore, other non-Samsung watches, most of them currently do not support WFF.
Even wearOS 4 uses WFF version 1 and wearOS 5 uses WFF version 2, which requires developers to push 2 separate bundles.
Watch Face Format setup | Android Developers
Unless you want to restrict access to your watch face for devices running Wear OS 5 or higher, create 2 different watch face APKs, one that supports version 2 and one that supports version 1.
I really would welcome if they opened that far as you demand, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up that sometime in the future they will provide us with the tool they used in their kitchen and give up the advantage it has.
It was like that since Tizen, the preinstalled watchfaces were part of the OS and no public tool could make faces like those.
I totally agree with you about the current mess there is now unfortunately. In my opinion the ideal tool would be Android Studio and inside it, a WFS plug-in to edit graphically warchface.xml accordingly to the target SDK you choose. End.
Currently if you choose to develop in WFS you can’t choose the target SDK and consequentially the all the features related. And viceversa if you develop in Android Studio, you don’t have the graphical tool to design your layout.
This partnership Samsung - Google it looks totally baked incomplete and is reflected in how to handle Watchface for Wear OS.
