On WFS 1.7.9, I was creating a Project about 90% of the way through and got this silly error.
I had to delete each element to debug, however I deleted to the last element and it was still there.
Has anyone encountered this problem and how did you solve it?

It seems very weird. I have tested with your project same issue. But I have tried with a similar project and it’s working fine. Could you please try with a new project and share your update?
Such bugs do happen time to time. Creating a new project different name and restart of wfs.resolve the issue.

is there a way to copy elements/style from one project to another?
Yes, but it is quite time consuming to create new project and rebuild from scratch.
Sorry, there is no way. You can make a copy of the previous one but in this case, some other issues may occur. So for safe side better to design from scratch.
I had this problem too. As far as I remember, it happened when I added a Text ID Name that contained a symbol (I think it was °C). Maybe you’ve added something similar…
