New designers - Sales - Downloads

Yes Ron, this will help a lot. The designers will be more happy if this will happen.

In the meantime I uploaded 4 themes, got rejected. But how can we compete with this? (see attached) This company has more themes than my entire portfolio in just 1 week.
Samsung please listen!!! Our work represents nothing now. Please allow 1 theme/ day or / week from one seller/company. Please!!!

@r.liechty_SDR please help the themes program

In the US they have changed the promotion for new Themes to Daily new themes and it appears that any single seller is only allowed to have one new Theme in that promotion. And we sent a request to global to do add limitations. I have a UK sim card and don’t see the same promotions in that.

You also need to understand that these large companies that do social media promotion may require that all the content be released usually at the same time to maximize the effectiveness of their promotions. This is especially true if you are doing Brand Promotions.

Understood Ron. I just hope that ,simple" designers can get more attention on the store

The real issue is that we cannot get themes approved. Always in delay status.

Maybe they had invested a lot in optimizing the processes and avoid the problems for which the themes are rejected. And/or they have many designers, employed or collaborate with, so a lot of costs. It’s a business for them, I guess.

If you start producing phones, would you ask the regulators to stop Samsung producing so many phones because you can’t compete with them? There are regulations, of course, but in the end, it’s all about efficiency and quality. And the customer’s choice.

What I mean is that Samsung has this store with their rules to ensure good quality for their phone’s customers. It’s not a meeting room for independent designers. Is it hard to compete with established companies? Of course. But so is in any other field.

In the end, I am sure that Samsung will impose these limitations if they think that this will improve their customer’s experience or reduce significantly the amount of work. But I guess that this is not the case, otherwise it would have hapenned already.

While I totally agree that big players vs individuals is a normal part of life and we have to just deal with it, I should mention that Theme Store still fails to provide adequate quality when it comes to approving mass content.
Just as a random example. If you go to Wallpaper section, you will see the overwhelming amount of badly distorted content from one seller. Just because this guy figured out how to quickly generate eye-catching images, but he never learned how to fix aspect ratios though. There are also couple of more quality conerns with his products, but whatever… Yet this is a big one. And not only Samsung reviewers easily pass it all, few of such wallpapers you can also see in the promoted block “High Quality Wallpapers”.
So I personally understand that they just are more efficient. But there is no excuse for sacrificing quality in the process and therefore affecting the Theme Store reputation this way.

Design is not about quantity but quality. If you open a marketplace to big, medium and small sellers, you should let them compete in a level play field. Otherwise big sellers will always win. We all need ‘some’ space to display our works.
Look at their designs, the volume, quality, details. I see repetition, flooding, poor dedication. Users will get bored if they only see 200 themes that looks almost the same. The store shows selections, editor’s picks, etc. as if they were curated, hand-picked. I don’t understand the rules. I’m lost.
Here is autumn and all I see is spring themes, are they aware earth is not flat or it’s just indifference?

If I look in the “special” tab of the store, individual vs big player is not proportional with the number of themes released. So it looks to me that Samsung does a good job by promoting the individual designers.

You are absolutely right, I didn’t notice these cases. I’m wondering how they pass the testing, in my case they reject even when something is slightly cut on the very narrow devices, compared with the preview… Maybe they test every 10th wallpaper only

However, I don’t think that they have special rules for some and other rules for others, it’s just that they should improve their procedures to avoid these cases. And too much content quality check may not be good either, I wouldn’t like some random tester to judge if my design is good or not, the rules should be as objective as possible.

In the end, maybe a little bit more careful content testing would help the quality. I’m not sure if a limit on the number of uploads can be “fair”. Or how can it be made fair. Check the portfolio of themes and decide that based on what you’ve done so far, you are allowed 10 / week? It can get completely random, it would cause even more frustration than now.

Nowadays I wouldn’t be surprised if some flat earther is in charge of something important, they seem to be everywhere . Would be nice to have somebody in charge to replace the seasonal topics for the south with the apropriate season, indeed.

Sorry but 90% of the world’s population lives in the northern hemisphere. I don’t expect to see much changes for the southern hemisphere.

Based on these, there should not be a review process for wallpaper, Samsung obviously doesn’t care. Stop wasting reviewers time and the customer will decide.

Many wallpapers and lock screens were rejected because they didn’t “fill” the Fold’s square screen. It happened to me and two other sellers I’m in contact with.
This stretch trick will work wonders, it can transform a circle into an ellipse

In this case reviewers should also stop rejecting themes based on the fact that wallpapers get cropped on Fold devices. These are double standards: they never miss a chance to reject a theme if the wallpaper doesn´t fully fit the Fold screen. Even when the damage is insignificant and can be easily ignored. But when the same wallpaper is squished to unrecognizable stage, nobody gives a s…t :woman_shrugging:t2:
While note! They DO test all the wallpapers regardless, and it takes them same amount of time as testing themes. And not that we can tell them not to do it and leave to the customer to decide just to speed up the process.

Hello, I’m not a designer yet and frankly I’m happy to read what’s above,
this is getting VERY discouraging

  • as a user to search for correct themes
  • as a future theme designer to see so much identical spam and kill good work

When you actually see the spam of icons that look alike… and you no longer want to look at the new icons because you no longer see the themes that have really been worked on.

There are several real problems with the galaxy theme

I Regarding the tutorials

Nothing is really precise in this process. It seems to have evolved and the tutorials, are they, completely late and with false information, because in the tutorials we see prohibitions, and in all the themes these prohibitions are not respected (surely an evolution that has forgotten d be modified).

Frankly, it would be wise to redo the most accurate and up-to-date tutorial parts on the internet.
I went to see the apple one one day by chance, and it’s more complete and simpler.

II concerning the PSD portfolio

It seems to me that the file provided (Portfolio PSD) with the 6 views is really too small, several important things are missing in it to prepare the finality of the themes and above all a successful and complete process, a real immersion:

  • The keyboard

  • Be able to display more icons than the mandatory 6
Have at least all the main APKs (I have 800 samsung/android apks, that’s as many icons as possible)
it would take at least 3 complete pages with all the main android samsung applications and why not all those of the system) without being compulsory…
We should also be able to modify and have it in the PSD:

  • Quick start icons

  • System icons (settings)

  • The “my files” page with icons

  • in the settings, the icons in accessibility

  • the icons in parameter / digital well-being

  • the icons in parameter/mode and routines

  • settings and icons of connected devices

  • I don’t know if it’s possible but also to have the icons of the different matching watches (to be able to have more rounded shapes specifically if the theme is square)

III Third-party program icons

We see programs, kits sold on the net, apk in the playstore … which add the icons of third-party programs.
why are we still restrained today…
We should be able to integrate facebook, tweeter, youtube, playstore… for a total immersion.
Icon Tray should only be useful for unrealized programs because they are less known. Maybe while waiting for a request to add a program requested by a samsung member in PM in the theme.

IV concerning the store itself

  • completely useless and depressing theme spam
  • the mess in the store with huge ads that spoil searches
  • not being able to sort themes by:
  • by date added (ascending/descending)
  • by number of downloads (ascending/descending)
  • By notes (ascending/descending or only certain notes)
  • By creators (ascending and descending alphabetical order)
    etc
    • also, what is offered by Samsung (top or themes), highlighted, better sorted and visible (clearer and cleaner).
=> it seems that there are arrangements to display things that should never be in a top or other …
And we see a lot of non-personal wallpaper (is possible today??? if so modify the rules in the tutorial)

V Conclusion

The blind gives the impression of being 50 years old and not evolving for a long time…
It seems to me that customization is moving fast in the smartphone world, and samsung was the forerunner, but samsung is “asleep” on its lead.

I’ve been looking forward to June 2023 since November 2022. And I’m hoping for more freedoms (other icons like youtube, facebook, tweeter… As can be changed in the Theme Park app).

But if there are no big improvements, I will sell my icons elsewhere…
People can buy from any store on the internet and change them after themselves thanks to all the programs that allow it…
In addition, it allows you to reach all brands of smartphones, thanks to third-party customization applications for each brand, it’s more interesting and above all we have more freedom.
And more visibility…

I allow myself not to criticize in the bad way, but especially so that it improves in the good way…
What do you think ?

I don’t mean to douse your hopes but I do believe that a lot of people are expecting something that is not promised.
Notification We are preparing a new theme designer operation policy.
It will be announced again around June 2023.

I was told that in Korean it was written as recruitment and operations policy. I just won’t want anyone to think they are saying they are having open recruitment starting in June.
