Question on Naming within the File > Project Pop-Up

Hi, Folks,
After creating several watch faces by using my first one as a “template,” I noticed that once they got to my watch/phone, they were all named the same in the Watch Faces on the Wearables app. I was told the solution was to navigate from the main menu to Project > Settings > Data Tab, click on the ID_Label_xxx link, then change the Default value field to the name of the new project. (See first two screenshots)

That did correct the problem with all my faces made with that template being named the same in the Wearable app.

However, I was later told I also needed to change the last part of the Package name (on the General Tab) to match the name of the new project. (See 3rd screenshot)

I have done that for all my projects created from a template. No issues.

HOWEVER, my question is do I also need to change the App Label on the General tab (the part after ID_LABEL_)? If not, why not?? (see 4th screenshot).

@smolnar18 as long as you have a different package name your android device would recognize it as different app/watchface.

Thank you @imrulanwar836. Can you tell me why the App Label on the General Tab does not need to be changed? It is using the name I gave my first watch face design which I have used multiple times as a template. I wonder if sometime under some circumstance that will cause a problem.

Just trying to understand the impact/purpose of all the naming fields.

@smolnar18 Inside App Label it has a variable named ID_LABEL_ANALOG_FIRST_TRY and its Default Value is Z_Complic_Template. “Z_Complic_Template” is the name users are going to see while applying the watchface.

And the package name is the name your Watch uses to uniquely identify all the apps and watchfaces.

I’m sorry if I’m being dense - I’m still not totally getting it. I get that “Z_Complic_Template” is what users (and I) see when applying a downloaded watchface. And I get that the package name is its unique identifier used by the watch.

But the ID_LABEL no longer refers to anything associated with this watchface. It was only the very first watchface I created and then used as a template. I would like to know whether I should or, more important, whether I CAN change that on the General Tab and, if so, can/should I change it to the name I’ve given the watchface (in this case, Z_Complic_Template)?

I keep trying to understand this because I frequently use a previous design as a starting point for a new design. However, I generally don’t want the starting design’s name to be referenced in the new design’s project. It just seems that could be confusing to me or to another WFS person with whom I shared the project.

Thanks, again, for your help!

do you keep the default value for ID_LABEL same for all the projects?

Actually, that’s what I’m asking. I was advised to edit the Package Name on the General tab, and advised to edit the Default value of the ID Label via the ID Label link on the Data tab.

But I was never advised whether or not to edit the actual App Label field on the General tab.

If you change the app label this name would change
