no news yet any updates are welcome

@samsung having worked at samsung for 6 years, i know someone is watching this thread, with the end of tizen support please can you restore the ability to generate personal certificates so that we can extend the life of our samsung devices, thereby reducing landfill and obsolescence on devices that still work !

I can no longer generate a certificate, resulting in a PKCS 12 error

All i want to do is restore stopwatch to my R800 !

Hello Samsung Developer Team and @Shamima,

many developers and users have been discussing the ongoing PKCS#12 certificate issue when trying to create or renew author certificates for Tizen wearable apps.
Several community members have analyzed the error in depth and confirmed that it seems to be a server-side problem related to invalid certificate chains on Samsung’s signing service.

We truly appreciate your continued communication, but since no final update has been provided yet, may I kindly ask for clarification:

  • Is the issue officially confirmed as server-side?

  • Will there be any future possibility to sign or sideload watch apps for personal use (for example via a local or simplified certificate process)?

  • And does Samsung plan to maintain limited support for Tizen wearable development to allow users to keep their devices functional and reduce electronic waste?

Many of us still love our Galaxy Watches and would be very grateful for a clear statement or alternative solution.

Thank you very much for your time, your transparency, and for supporting the developer community.

Best regards

Developers are not interested in the problem of devices that are no longer being manufactured. They just brush us off and will continue to brush us off.

Hello,

Apologies for the inconvenience.

As we already know that since December 16, 2023, Galaxy Store is no longer accepting Tizen-based apps. As the part of our ongoing efforts to improvement, Samsung Certificate for Tizen wearables and mobiles is going to be deprecated and discontinued soon. So, no more update/fix will be available further.

We understand that many of you currently use this certificate. Though new certificate generation will not be supported but you can still use the existing issued certificates.

We truly appreciate your understanding and continued support as we evolve to serve you better.

Thank you for being a valued part of our community.

Some of us don’t have pre existing certificates. We all here understand that what we create will never reach an app store. We just don’t want our watches to die. There still running, there still counting steps, giving Samsung data (assuming),and logging sleep.

I just want to make little comfort tools, connect it to my personal website REST api. If someone could share a certificate, that would be great but there locked to specific watch ID’s.

“…evolve to serve you better.” - this is not coming off as an evolution.

Hello @Shamima and Samsung Developer Team,

thank you for your reply — but this is exactly the kind of message that makes many long-time Samsung users deeply disappointed.

Ending support and certificate generation for Tizen devices isn’t just a technical decision — it feels like planned obsolescence. These watches and phones still work perfectly fine, yet you’re forcing them into digital death by removing the only way to maintain or reinstall apps.

Meanwhile, Samsung is facing serious security issues, like the recently discovered “no-click” image exploit that can fully compromise devices — and there are no updates or fixes for affected models. So now, users are left with insecure devices and no official path to repair or maintain them.

Here’s a suggestion instead of total shutdown:
Offer a paid maintenance program or certificate renewal service — even with a small fee — so users can keep their devices alive securely and responsibly.
It would prevent tons of unnecessary electronic waste, restore consumer trust, and show that Samsung still stands for innovation and responsibility.

Otherwise, what message are you sending? That after a few years, every Galaxy device becomes disposable — even when it still works?

For me and many others, that’s the point where we seriously start looking at other brands that take long-term sustainability and user rights more seriously.

Respectfully, but disappointedly.

Hello Shamima,

honestly your reply comes a very unpleasant surprise, I have more than 10 watches from Samsung and my pleasure was to write personal apps and reply them on my watches. I have been always a promoter of Samsung watches in the past. Considering what you reported I’m also “seriously start looking at other brands that take long-term sustainability and user rights more seriously”.
