System Icons

Hi

Am new to using GWD and having been playing about with it for a couple of days. I’ve created a couple of basic watchfaces, with button links to the phone, music, weather etc. However, is there somewhere I can get pre-made system icons of say a phone, music symbol, email etc, rather than having to create them?

Also, what’s the best way to create things such as circles to go around a heart symbol, or lines and shapes, such as shown on some of the attached faces?

Thanks

For all your answers, the right answer would be to use Photoshop or Illustrator,
yes everything is available on the internet, but you are really encouraged to create it yourself,
so you avoid any copyright issues

Thanks. That’s fine, happy to create, but thought the standard small icons would be readily available!

Is Photoshop or Illustrator a paid product?

Photoshop/Illustrator are paid
But you can download GIMP which has very similar features

Some of the resources can be found here: https://developer.samsung.com/galaxy-watch-design/resource.html
They are maybe not so powerful, yet Gimp is nice alternative Photoshop for bitmap editing and Inkscape to Illustrator for vector graphics.

Thanks for that, will give it a go.

Hi Peter
That is not allowed anymore.
I actually got told to remove the Gear store icon on one of my watchfaces
Malcolm

Really? Thats strange, but good to know. Then they should have removed it from that page in first place.

Thanks Peter, but they weren’t what I was looking for.

Wasn’t looking to infringe on any copyright issues, just thought that there may well be a directory of standard icons, that’s all!

Samsung has went to great trouble to have One UI so that user interaction is the same in all apps. You can download all of these in one form or another on the Galaxy Watch Resources page

Photoshop is paid product that most designers have and is pretty much essential however, there is an open source tool GIMP that you can use.

Hi Ron
I got told to remove the Samsung Galaxy app store icon from one of my watch faces when i used it as a shortcut
Malcolm

Hi Peter
I amy be wrong, but I was told to remove the Samsung Galaxy app Icon when I used it as a shortcut
Malcolm

I think it should be allowed for any of the Apps listed in the Open Apps list. The Galaxy Store is not one so that would be Infringement the same as if you had any other 3rd party icon.

I presume I would need to use the .psd file to work with

Hi Ron
The shopping bag is part of the icons in the resource page

Malcolm

I’ll ask the infringement team and get a ruling.

Hi
Use the .png format , not the .psd
.png will retain the transparency in the image , if and when required.
Malcolm

you can use websites with free resources like https://www.vecteezy.com/ or https://www.freepik.com/.

Be very careful with the free graphic resources sites much of them are for Non-commercial use only. If you submit a watch design from one of those sites you need to include proof that they are allowed. There is zero tolerance for plagiarism in the store now.

that’s common sense. everyone is responsible for how they use those resources and more, you are told under what conditions you can use them. when I answered I assumed it was for personal use.
