In this message I am going to share with you the nightmare experience of my trying to register in Samsung Developer seller portal. While trying to register I was asked to fill in my personal information in “Basic Information” section. I was shocked when I saw that the country/region field was already pre-filled with “USA” value (I am not from USA). But the worst thing is that I could not change it!!! What a nonsense! Well, I tried to contact the support service to ask them how I could change my Country information. Then I was shocked even more because they asked me to attach my Passport to prove that I am not from USA. Guys, are you serious??? What are you smoking??? Why on earth you set my country information as USA and then I must show you my documents to prove that I am not from USA???
It’s the most disgusting registration process I have ever experienced!
Sorry, I just could help sharing with you all this.
They use the location based on where your computer is located. If you had a US VPN it would do that too.
They need a copy of residency for legal reasons usually that is a copy of your passport page and a local ID or bill information, proof of student residency, etc.
I apologize that you feel you had a bad experience but there are many bad players trying to scam the system.
Hello! Thank you for your reply! But I don’t use any VPN or proxy servers! So it seems like their automatic location detection system works bad, at least in may case… In my opinion it would be more proper to allow developers to edit all their profile data manually and only after that the system should request any verifications…
I found out the answer. The location information is from your Samsung Account and that is why it can’t be changed. If you are residing in the USA you will need to provide some proof and should do as the seller office suggests.
