Looking at the messages in this forum, it is one complaint after another about bugs in Camera2 API.
For instance, the RAW mode seems to be broken on every phone.
If other mobile phone companies can manage to support Camera2 API, why can’t Samsung?
Hello,
Would you please elaborate on the bug you are talking about?
We will try to address the issue. And Samsung smartphones support Camera2 API.
Thank you
This is the same bug that I mentioned already: The phone apps that support RAW always freeze when taking a RAW app. See bug report 33376.
@Iqbal just view all of the threads (mostly the ones for non-flagship phones) at: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/c/mobile/galaxy-camera/15
Here, I will compile a list of all the unresolved issues:
- This person is complaining that the A30 does not report the ultra wide angle camera: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/no-cameraid-of-back-wide-angle-camera-on-galaxy-a30
- This person is complaining that they cannot access the wide angle camera: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/use-back-facing-wide-angle-camera
- This person is complaining that the Tab S6 does not report the ultra wide camera (it might have been resolved, the original user never said if their issue was fixed after OneUI 2.5): https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/accessing-ultra-wide-camera-on-tab-s6
- This person is complaining that the A51 does not report the Depth Camera: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/a51-depth-sensor
- These people are complaining about issues with A-Series phones not reporting or allowing access to the Depth Cameras on these devices: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/tof-camera-on-samsung-a51-and-other-midrange-phones
- This person was asking how to get depth data, and then said the captured depth maps were empty (it might have been resolved, the original user never said if their issue was fixed): https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/development-of-3d-scan-application-by-using-depthvision-tof-camera
- This person is complaining that the A71 does not report the Ultra Wide Angle Camera: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/access-rear-wide-camera-on-a71
- Semi-resolved, it was learned the Camera2 API reports a shorter exposure time than the phone can be capable of but that anything longer than that is unofficial and can have unexpected results (At least there was some closure): https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/camera-long-exposure-time
- This person was flat-out told that we are not allowed to use all of the cameras: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/how-to-use-wide-camera-to-record-video-m21-phone
- This person is complaining about a few issues regarding the Camera2 API on the M51: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/bug-report-tonemap-curves-doesnt-work-and-questions-about-camera2-api-galaxy-m51
- Not a bug but this person complains about why this is all an issue in the first place, if we want to utilize all of these cameras on our devices we need to use Samsung’s Camera app but Samsung’s Camera app sucks and arguably has no control over post-processing (except for RAW capture, but that is only available on flagships): https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/please-let-the-camera-stop-making-al-the-pictures-super-smooth-on-s21-ultra
- Also not a bug but another problem with Samsung’s Camera app (for some reason this one didn’t get closed but the other one did?): https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/two-camera-click-buttons
- This person is complaining that the S21 Ultra does not report one of the telephoto cameras: https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/galaxy-s21-ultra-camera-access
-
Here I complain about basically the same issues as everyone else, but specifically with the A71 5G (UW): https://forum.developer.samsung.com/t/galaxy-a71-5g-camera-support-issues
And now we are at this thread. There is more issues made after this thread that I have not listed. There is also some issues that I haven’t listed but that still might be worth checking out. I hope I have provided a good idea about what @anatomy is talking about.
None of the topics or reports above have anything to do with Samsung Camera API You should use the Members App to report bugs and request feature enhancements. That will send a bug report to someone that can assist you. Please read the welcome notice.
I’ll be more diligent and clean up these threads that may be causing others to think that posting in this forum is of any use at all.
