Clarification on Business Registration Number Requirement for EU

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the notification about “Adding Business Registration Number if Distributing Apps in the EU.”
Does this requirement apply only to Corporate Commercial Sellers?

I’m currently registered as a Commercial Distribution Seller, so I’d like to confirm—am I exempt from needing to provide a Business Registration Number?

I would not trust any answer from a public forum because everyone is different and you don’t want to put your account in jeopardy. I’d recommend submitting a portal question with your specifics.

Hi Botttis,

I confirmed with the Seller Portal team that if you distribute an app or theme (free or paid) in the EU you must enter your business registration number in your Seller Portal profile. This is to meet the requirements of the EU’s Digital Services Act.

There is no exemption from this requirement.

Individuals in the EU, and Sellers from other countries, don’t have Business Registration Numbers, you are saying they cannot sell anything in the EU?

I reached out to the Seller Portal team again and they clarified that there are no exemptions for corporate sellers. Corporate sellers will see the mandatory business registration number field in their Seller Portal profile starting May 28. If you are an individual/private seller, you will not see this mandatory field in your Seller Portal profile on May 28.

What is “Business Registration Number” anyway? How do I get one? So it’s not DUNS number? How do you I get “Business Registration Number” if I am an private entrepreneur, also known as a sole proprietor or individual entrepreneur (FOP in Ukraine)?

I don’t think you can get one if you are in Ukraine, you aren’t part of the EU. Its not the DUNS #.

Interesting, so what should I do? The website doesn’t allow me to submit updates for my apps because I didn’t fill this field…
Upd:
It seems for Ukraine we can use РНОКПП / Identification Code (ІПН) instead
