Heart rate [HR]

I apologize if I seemed argumentative.

All good, no worries hah. Thanks for taking the time to answer my comments. And yeah I understand Tizen and WearOS function in different ways. Just… sucks a little that in some aspects, going to the GW4 has been a little bit of a downgrade.
Nice to know that it seems to be a known common request though, maybe some day.

I imagine that is actually what you want too.

No, actually.
I have no practical use or purpose for it, but I simply like being able to look down and see exactly what’s the heart rate at that exact second and see it change a bit.
I wouldn’t call myself active or health minded since most of my excerice comes from swinging my arms playing “Beat Saber” in VR, but I like having the “constantly on” option because I can.
I’m already used to charging my watches once day and don’t feel like I’m struggling to reach the end of the day with the GW4.

Guess nothing left to say, just gotta wait and see if it ever gets added as an option.
Once again, thanks for answering.

My Watch3 used to go almost 4 days Watch4 may go 2 days if I’m lucky. I don’t know about LTE devices.

If you are developing for your watch be sure to turn off Developer Options when not running on device, that sucks the life out of the battery because it always had WiFi on and always trying to connect.
Location Services drain a bit
Detect Activity in Samsung Health or Google Fit uses 10 -20% more battery for me when it is on.

I got my app with HR approved and this is what I did. It got rejected at first but the reason was never HR so this might be a stable way to do it.

  1. I added a Wear OS screenshot from the watch, to give permission to check vitals

  2. I did the same for the phone screenshots

  3. I added a disclaimer in another phone screenshot image (small print at the bottom)

  4. I also added a disclaimer in the app description

  • Heart Rate measurement* (Tap the ‘Engine’ icon to start measuring)
  • Heart Rate reminder (‘Check Engine’ light turns on 2 hours after the last HR measurement)**
  • Steps (showing during Heart Rate is being measured)

IMPORTANT! After installation, allow the Watch Face to access your vitals (Heart Rate and Steps)

.* Heart Rate measurement is not linked to any health apps.
It only shows the current Heart Rate at the time of measurement and it is only triggered manually.
** The Heart Rate reminder (orange ‘Check Engine’ light) comes on every two hours from the last manual trigger on this Watch Face.

it’s just me or now in the last version (1.4.20) and watch 6 its display the hear rate Continuously?

It is not you, there are several long threads about this already.

I just wanted to say, big thank you to whoever is responsible for making the [HR] tag work continuously
Now I don’t have to depend on facer and can just use WFS to do my personal watchface.

Hi, does this continuous hr drain battery?
It does not follow the triggers set in samung health

Haha… i might be exception that rather have it scan every 10 mins only. Or base on samsung health settings…instead of default continously

Heart Rate measurements itself is implemented on Watch (Wear OS 4) in a way which wont cause any battery drain.

Watch face constantly rendering values within [HR] tag (and any subsequent element) will cause battery drain. Therefore, there should be a frequency setting. The negative reviews primarily affect watch face developers, so Samsung doesn’t really care and they take the position that continuous measurement is what every watch user wants.

Really as a user anything that cause battery drain…i dont want.

I build my watch face for personal use…so yeah i in the user camp. Only more developer savy.

But honest i seen other developer complain the hr is not countinous when it was wear os 3.5…lol

It should follow a setting in the system or S Health. So easy. I can understand both groups, people who want to measure all the time, and people who want 10 min / manual.

Right now the implementation is so screwed up that only first group will be pleased, and even those can still complain about battery drain. Other group will simply avoid watch face which is constantly measuring HR. Yeah, they won’t forget to add 1-star review and state that they are not able to set HR interval or that their battery life decreased a lot when using watch face.

They should have left the previous implementation
Alone. S health can do continously if needed.

So in covers all groups. Just configure then you done.

The problem was that users didnt know that the bpm they see was triggered by s health settings.
They complain not able to read all the time because they didnt know features was there.

For me i purposely turn it to 10mins interval

It was user problem. But now its both user and samsung wear os problem. Lol
