Dear Samsung Remote Test Lab Team,
I hope this message reaches the right team and is taken with the seriousness it deserves. I’m writing on behalf of our team to express our growing frustration and deep disappointment with the current state of the Samsung Remote Test Lab (RTL). What was once a truly valuable platform has, unfortunately, become almost unusable in recent months — and the situation seems to be worsening rather than improving.
To begin with, the device availability has dropped drastically. Just a few days ago, the UK lab had only one Galaxy S device, and the USA lab had barely five devices online — a stark contrast to the previously reliable ten or more. Worse still, these limited devices are almost always reserved, leaving no viable options for testing. We understand demand can vary, but the current scarcity makes it impossible to depend on the platform for real development needs.
And now, even as some devices seem to be returning, the performance has become utterly unacceptable. The lag is unbearable. Despite testing from within the United States on a stable 1 Gbps internet connection, input delay on the USA lab devices can take up to 10 seconds to register a single click. That is not just inconvenient — it’s impossible to work with. It is affecting productivity, timelines, and ultimately, our confidence in Samsung’s commitment to developers.
We’ve heard the explanation that the issue may be location-based, but that simply doesn’t hold up in practice. Lag issues are present not only in USA servers but also in Korea and other regions. The UK lab, which we also rely on heavily, has also become practically unusable.
We’ve been holding on with the hope that scheduled maintenance sessions would bring improvement, but unfortunately, they haven’t. Instead, things have only gone downhill since mid-2023. What’s more disheartening is that complaints and emails sent since May remain “under review,” with no clear communication or action plan from Samsung’s side. It’s beginning to feel like developer feedback is being ignored — and that hurts.
Samsung has long stood as a leader in mobile innovation, and the RTL once reflected that excellence. But in its current state, it no longer meets even the most basic expectations. We urge you — not just as users but as long-standing supporters of your ecosystem — to take real action:
Address the severe lag issues across all servers, especially in the USA and Korea.
Increase the number of available devices, particularly in the USA and UK, where many developers and QA teams are located.
Communicate openly and transparently about what’s being done to fix these issues and what timelines we can expect.
This is not just a complaint — it’s a call for Samsung to restore our confidence. We are not asking for luxuries, just for a platform that works as promised and as it once did.
Please don’t let the Samsung Remote Test Lab become another abandoned tool. We believe it still has tremendous potential, and we genuinely want to see it thrive again — but that cannot happen without serious and immediate attention to these issues.
