Store error message on updating closed beta test app

Our app is in closed beta test and uses IAP. We find that when users update from one beta test version to the latest they see this on screen message:

Samsung In-App Purchase
Product does not exist in this store.

Testers who uninstall the previous version and then install the latest do not see this message.
What could be causing this, and is this something which will also happen when the build is published live?

For IAP transactions to work under closed beta, a fresh install is required from one version to another. Testers need to uninstall previous version and then download the new one from closed beta so IAP transactions can be performed.
