Unable to send face to watch because of AOD

When clicking “Run on Watch” button in WFS, I get this message :
WFS AOD

Disabling things or swaping element for less luminous ones also affect normal mode.
Is there a way to bypass this as I don’t have this issue with other face manager like facer ?

I don’t think you can bypass it, Samsung/Google are sticklers about battery consumption. It’s kind of over the top if you’re just making faces for yourself but it’s warranted if you are making faces to sell on Google Play. I feel like if it’s just for your use only, you should be able to do whatever you want.

You can Not even put it on your own watch if it is over 15% . I put an AOD filter at the Top level that covers the whole face in " Black " and adjust the opacity of it till it passes usually about 5% . You can put what you want to be bright above the filter .
You can duplicate Layers and have them On or Off on DIM/AOD .

The best part of it, if I may says so is that there are so many services, requests, resident software and trinkets that are battery consuming that concerns about this is plain ridiculous, above all because people (should) know about battery pixels eating and face NOT intended to be play store sold on.

I’ll try the “blackout” layer on top ! ;.)

Fortunately, I was able to upload it on the watch with facer, so I could have a first look at the live design other than a yahoo or XWidget widget on my windows desktop, the both of them really don’t give the same look & feel, leaving improvment to be done.

The Trinkets use very little Power . Unless of course it is running on a Third Party Emulator like Facer . The main power cost on our watches is the display and Bright Pixels Most . Sound and Vibration is the Next . I would like a seconds tick on my Watch but it seems there is no desire to have it Native to Samsung for the same reasons . Samsung and Google are doing thier very best to prove that thier OS is a Power Saver .

Even a blocking 50% dark on top of everything gives me a no no.

Unfortunately, in these politically correctness days, I’m not allowed to design what I want to do on my own.

So, I’ll be left to deal with facer.
As curved text was meant in the 1st place to display non really usefull data on main screen, I’ll tweak my design and will upload it with facer until I decide what to do with the whole concept of porting on a smartwatch what’s on my desktop.

Or check again e-ink devices (if there’s tools to design faces on them).

What Political correctness prevents you Making Faces on WFS . The only thing I find is that it is difficult to Follow your Direction . I have offered you Some Help . But I get no feedback as to how that has gone . Yes Facer is an Easier place to start for Sure .
I will be very surprised if E-Ink is easier . I have not yet seen an E-Ink watch Face . I will be more than intrested to see a Link .

I will be happy to check your Work if you could Post it here . You just add .ZIP to the file name and paste it in here .
Your Face must be very Bright . Are you doing an E-Ink thing .

political correctness?? I’m interested as to how you got to that?

Sorry if I went political on this.

By politically correctness I meant that, on behalf of google/samsung views of how a face has to comply with battery comsuption of an available face on their store, I’m not allowed to upload on my watch whatever designed material pleasing me for a complete and total restricted personal use.
I mean checkout could be done WHEN publishing on google/samsung store, when trying to sell a corporate compliant software, and only.

Because of not wanting users to complain about battery drain and fast degradation, a very paradoxal move in a capitalistic market where obsolescence and replacement/turn over are the key, corporate and marketing forbids you to do whatever pleases you with your very own device.

To picture it, it’s what’s happening in UK these last days : to freely live, one has to be restricted on social free speech.

Maybe my fading eyesight prevented me to find it (not accustomed also with this plateform), I couldn’t find a personnal/user mailbox to private give you the .zip as I don’t want to advertize here my design. Not that it is so brilliant, but who knows, maybe I’ll find a way to make this watch a reality one day.

Some examples on youtube for the better experience of electronic watches under daylight as even OLED offers a poor experience on that matter.

Oh I see what you Mean . Well I am sad you do not Find you can do anything you want . I am a Maker . Basicaly a Wood Metal and Plastics man . I will however use Ceramics as an example . The Medium has some limitations before you start .
Size is one of them . Because the Medium is self supporting during it’s Plastic Phase you can not make stuff too tall . Then to be of any use at all it has to be fired . So you are limited by the Size of your kiln .
Every art or Craft has its own Limitations . The Creativity is to get the most out of the medium to reflect the Image in your mind .
Yes there is no PM here . I understand your Desire for Privacy . Some of us aspire to Publication and will be making stuff that interests others . You will find on this Forum stuff does not get Stolen. You do not have to post a full finished Face to show us where you are stuck . Just send us a test that shows where you are stuck with generic images . We can Fix it and send it back to you . I have done that for a few now .

@parisienne17 Are you switching to DIM mode to check the Lit Pixel Reading . The AOD Filter is only On for the, Dim / AOD Mode and OFF for the Normal .
You can try link with me on Messenger if you wish .
.
I made a Test and I see that if the Face is just a White square . The Black Filter has to be at around 88% Opacity as you said to pass the test . But it is passed and you do not have to use AOD on your personal Face . I don’t use AOD .
.
Here is a test which uses sliders instead of changing the numbers. Battery slider for AOD opacity ( Blackout ) . Time Machine slider for the White Background Opacity ( Greyscale )
.

I didn’t intend to use AOD even if the idea is appealing but unless a company puts solar panel under the screen if that’s even possible, battery life is the concern.
I stopped at 50%, I’ll try 80 ;.)

Big thanks for the tip anyway !

You are very Welcome . It is good to try help in a Community .

Unless I’ve missed something, I’ve tried a 80% black on top of everything. It allowed to pass AOD check, BUT… in normal screen it also blocks everything, at least in WFS.

You have to switch the layer Off ( Hide it ) with the Little Eye icon at the right of the Layer Title Bar .
Sorry about the Time Zone Lag .
.
Just to say that this is one of my own faces I use on my watch , as you can see it is quite white .

Oh… I thought that enabling/disabling a layer did affect both normal and AOD. My bad.
Again, big thanks for taking time to help me !

Found a way to get a full watch face from a face developed from WFS working but dims. Maybe this will help rather than messing with the percentage. Make a face and in AOD click hide for whatever is keeping it not developing

Use With new 6 0 update

  1. Make sure you have your lock feature on and phone recognize wrist. Also have AOD on.

  2. lock phone by taking off wrist or lock manually and put back on wrist.

  3. use bottom button (side of watch) to bring up lock code

  4. Hit SOS but don’t call; instead hit bottom back button (side of watch). Should go back to dim mode with full face but limited functions and a lock icon.

  5. setting: advanced features - status indicator - hide after 2 seconds
