WFS Feature Requests Q3 2023

When I was replying to a GWS question I remembered you could save a component as a custom complication, it could be an entire layout with dozens of individual components and their settings. Would that do what you want to do?

Ron

Hi Ron,

What do you meant by saving a whole component.
How this can be fine and then how I could add it to the watch face?

Regards
Adam

Thank you very much.

Hi Ron,

This might be a useful request to everyone. In Galaxy Watch Studio we have this feature when you hover your mouse in the layers, a label pop up (please see screenshot below). We don’t have this in WFS and in my opinion will be very useful to know what version of image you put in.
hover label

Another small request, sorry if it’s been requested before: I have a 3 frames animation and I’d like to add different styles for this animation (other 3 frames animations, same size, same number of frames). The animation object doesn’t support styling, so there’s no way to make it possible at the moment. And for many of my watchfaces, it would be super useful.

Regarding Android studio and WFS, I develop Android apps for work and on my own since 2014, but I prefer WFS over Android studio. It’s simple to use and makes the process way faster, at the price of some compromises in terms of what you can and can’t do.

In clock making a complication is anything that is in addition to the watch hands… they are another gear complication you have to deal with.

Galaxy Watch Studio had prewritten complications that the designer could add and then modify. In Tizen based watches the end user could only modify with tap actions.

In Galaxy Watch Studio you could select multiple layers groups and prewritten complications. You can even do a select all for your entire watch face as a template for the next design. Then you would save it as complication and it would be stored in a personal complications → custom

Then in another GWS project you could for example
add complication-> custom-> myHealth complication
and it would add that.

Gotcha, thanks Ron Liechty

I have a feature request for something I use all the time in AutoCAD and other graphics programs: A zoom window. I don’t see any other method for zooming other than the zoom percentage or zoom extents buttons at the bottom right corner. Zooming to a drag window would save a bunch of time.

L CTRL + Mouse scroll → zoom in/ zoom out
L SHIFT + Mouse scrol → move right/left

Thank you! I totally forgot about the shortcut keys :man_facepalming:

Sorry, I’m sure my requests are mission impossible, just trying my luck.

  1. Action > Tap > Open App > Compass
  2. Action > Tap > Open App > Stop Watch
  3. Action > Tap > Open App > Weather (Yup, I’m aware of the license issue)
  4. Screenshot size 512 x 512
  5. Memory Budget - Have a warning during build if we exceeded it, and where did we exceed it.

FEATURE REQUEST:
Allow to transform / switch between complication slots. For example, switch from Circle Slot to Small Box Slot and maintain all supported layouts. (elements inside)

Option to add transparent color from color pallet for a predefined text/complications. This can be used to allow users to decide if they want to see a predefined complication or not by changing the color to transparent. I am facing an issue where I can’t allow the users to choose if they want to show a predefined design or not. I can’t hide it with an image overlay, because that would break another design.

I am not an expert here, maybe I am missing some feature that can already do this!

@ALITHIR

  • Action > Tap > Open App > Compass
  • Action > Tap > Open App > Stop Watch

The issue is that not all Watch Manufactures may have those apps.

  • Action > Tap > Open App > Weather (Yup, I’m aware of the license issue)

The issue with licensing is sharing the data not in displaying it. Someone wrote here that Wear 4 will have a setting to set default and then a secondary option. That may allow Tap on Weather it would open Samsung’s version in Galaxy Watch and Google weather in other watches.

  • Screenshot size 512 x 512

Is there a reason why?

  • Memory Budget - Have a warning during build if we exceeded it, and where did we exceed it.

I think the solution is for the Play Store to double the limitation.

Hi Ron. No big, just that in GWS the 512x512 was beautiful to prepare store assets. The current size generated by WFS is not as vivid compared to the latter.

Will SDP be announcing this here when Play Store resolves it? I would be great because all my apps built and planned to be built with WFS1.4.20 is currently on hold. The rejected ones are also idling on my Console pending another update attempt.

I hope it will be soon because I believe there is a deadline of 31st August to update our Wear OS apps to API 30+. I think. Or was it just a migration of existing API 28+ to Wear OS Only track :woman_shrugging: Thanks Ron.

Noted with thanks. I will look for that thread for details.

I know I can’t post anything like that but if someone does post it I can refer others to it.

Wear 3 is API 30 and WFS 1.3.13 does create apps for that version.

Wear 4 is API 33 and that will have additional features and I think users will be happier with Steps and Heart Rate complications and tags.

FEATURE REQUEST: (Watch Face Format)

  1. Add BoundingRoundBox or switch BoundingBox to BoundingRoundBox

  2. Add BoundingArc

  3. Allow us to use tags with Complication Slot attributes (x, y, width, height). (This was working fine with WFS 1.3.13 and it also should be possible with Wear OS 4 watch faces (Watch Face Format)

I know this has been talked about before in other threads, but hopefully if this gets enough requests, maybe they can make it happen.

I would like to have access to the Magnetometer data so we can make our own visual compasses, directly on the watch face. We know it’s possible, because the Pro Analogue face that comes with the watch5 pro already does this.
