Your watch APK file has a high failure rate

When watch face was made using WFS 1.4.20 or WFS 1.5.7 and it runs on Wear OS 4, there is a high chance that it wont run properly.

Watch faces made by WFS 1.4.20 and up have watchface.xml which should be used by System watch face runtime. In other words, these watch faces are not running on bundled runtime anymore starting with Wear OS 4. WFS currently does not produce 100% correct watchface.xml (based on Validator needs).

I believe right now, watch faces are accepted to Google Play because they don’t want to reject every design which is not passing their watchface.xml validator.

Problem is, that DWF (Runtime) is throwing multiple error lines, watch face works fine, but logcat is filled with errors.

I’ve reported some of the Watch Face Format issues and also Watch Face Studio issues (not producing valid xml) directly to Google. Some of the bug reports are assigned. I think Google and Samsung are currently actively working on a fix.

Thank you, @amoledwatchfaces, for all your efforts!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hey! Just received a concerning notification from Google Play Console about the watch face APK file I uploaded. Apparently, the failure rate is higher than it should be, especially for the always-on apps. This might affect visibility on Google Play, and users could start seeing notifications on the store listing. The email suggests checking out the Android Vitals feature in the Quality section for my watch face. Gonna dive into ANR Failures and Errors metrics to see what’s up. Has anyone else faced this issue with their watch faces, particularly those using WFS 1.5.7? Any tips on fixing this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your feedback.

I’m reconnecting to this thread…

Has anyone received these alerts from Google lately?

I received some warnings on some watch faces created / updated with WFS 1.5.x and 1.6.x.

Here an overview over the last 28 days from one of my designs made with WFS 1.5.7.

Are you getting the same error?

Yes, same error.

It also happened to me on minimal Watch faces with very few customizations. I also reassembled the watch face from scratch with no improvements.

Thanks.
