Battery drain

Hi,

Besides “General” sub forum, I don’t see where to post this…

I’ve noticed that turning my watch off doesn’t prevent it to drain the battery.

When turning it off, either by icon in options screens or two side buttons push, plane mode/battery saving/location are already are already set to off and when I turn the watch on, I’ve noticed that the battery was used, to the point of 2 times, the watch didn’t fired up and I had to plug it & wait for it to have a minimal charge.

So I tried again this time and check. When off, the battery keeps discharging.
The watch is new OOTB, 3 or 4 months old.

What is going on here ?

I’ve also noticed that “heavy” skins, either badly done or requiring god knows what, seems to drain also the battery.

I’m working on replicating a jacob & co astronomia . I didn’t use my watch of the whole afternoom it was just on my desk => the battery did loose 12%. …

Wow That is a Complex face you are making . That will Drain the battery . Unless a lot of the stuff is done with live action multiple animations are quite a drain . Which watch do you have you should be able to see what is draining your Battery in the settings . I would take some faces off your watch and free some memory . Do a Two button Reboot now and again .
.
.
BTW There are no Categories in the WFS Forum .

My watch is galaxy 5 pro.

I use orbiting formulas or rotating properties for hands, like -[SEC_MSEC]x12 To make the bottomless disk turn CCW faster.
Finding the 12 value was a try & guess to keep the disk at the same starting point when reaching the end of [SEC] cycle.

My main problem is accelerating rotations/orbital movments as this astronomia watch has a 10mn rotation for the main time sub dial.

For battery drain I did notice that before loading onto the watch the early job for this one.

In fact, I have quite my 10,maybe a bit more, watch faces in memory, do you think it could be related ? But I don’t understant why a complex face would drain battery : as long as the screen is on, I can understand, pixels are lit, but on a non showing face, not even AOD, like the watch turned off, why is the battery discharging ?

I think the Math is still running even in AOD . Are your Images big in terms of Pixel Count . Did you check the Battery power drain in settings on your watch .

Even if Math running when the screen is non active tears some holes in my brain, Math running when OFF leaves me speechless.

Yesterday, I’ve turned OFF the watch with 52% of energy. I’ve just turned it on, battery is… 31%.
It was turned OFF with location/plane mode/battery optimization off.

I’ve check in parameters :

  • super, no issue.
  • 5,9 Go left.
  • 509mo free RAM.
  • Applications & faces : 599mo.

it would be really nice to have some insight on this : guys does your watch keep eating battery when OFF ?

WFF/WFS is pretty crude. Any elements that are included in the ‘ALWAYS ON’ section will run in AOD (or will try to). Remove power-hungry elements from that section. If necessary for appearance, replace them with static images.

@parisienne17 . What do these show you on your watch .
You see I am running Facer on my watch and I am getting 2% Per Hour Drain . That should give me 2 days usage but because of the syncing I do I charge it every evening .
I have WiFi , GPS Location and ADB debugging on all the time I can not be bothered to switch them off .
.
.

i don’t understand that : HOW elements never showing (as I don’t use AOD) can use cpu/screen/battery ?
It’s like a really bad photoshop setting 50Go RAM usage in case of…

Anyway, for the actual used face, I’ve disabled display in AOD (eye icon) and put a black ellipse rounded to whole screen. I’ll see.

@russellcresser , I’ve checked application battery usage, the six of them displayed here use 0,5% at most (play store, one UI , recent apps, samsung health, assistant, smart switch, samsung declarative face), so nothing here it seems.

I’m charging the watch now, will turn it OFF for the night then see the result tomorrow.

You may want to clear your Cache .

So, the math is clear : this smartwatch is just a pile of polecat [expletive removed].

  1. I’ve cleared the AOD part (every object is Off (eye icon) besides a full screen round black shape).
  2. Location/plane mode/battery optimization was on.

I’ve turned the watch OFF for the night. 7H later, it has lost 7% of energy. My old tab S 10.5 tablet, 1st generation, stays for months OFF. This !%$*°#`watch can only at this rate stay less than a week… What a travesty. Even my mobile stays longer OFF (Galaxy S10+).

I’ve also tried the “only watch mode”… Waaoo… This leaves you only with hh:mm:ss digits in white on black. No face at all.

So, the whole thing is crystal clear :

  1. Buy the device.
  2. Charge it every day or other day.
  3. Throw it to garbage after 2 years.
  4. Buy a new one.

I also REALLY like the “up to 80 hours of ‘normal’ use”. … Guys : STOP taking us for 2 weeks rabbits.

I have never seen Samsung Claiming the Cell on a GW5 would last 80 Hours . I have the Pro . I think it has a Stronger Battery . I am happy that I can charge it once a day with all the Development I do . I could get 2 or 3 days out of it if I was not using Facer .

Obviously, either wearOs is a pity or samsung hardware is. Maybe the two are : a mobile phone with much more processes going on, bigger screen, more use can last longer. My mobile is up to 6 days on a charge, and more, when turned off it doesn’t eat battery as this smartwatch does.

I see . That is a Claim for the GW5 Pro . Those claims are Propaganda . Like the Promises of Politicians.

Fortunately for samsung, I’m not that wealthy to sue the company for fake claims, swindle & scam and thinking about it, I should ask for a bank loan and drag their [expletive removed] to court as I don’t see how a “normal use” can provide up to 80 hours of battery. No mode, settings allow that.

Besides being silenced by moderation/platform for using the word [expletive removed] I’ve definitely come to the gigantic scam of wearos & samsung :

  • For DAYS (1 to 2, (Sensors OFF + watch OFF)) = 35% less battery.

Modern world of tech supremacy have created the perfect combination of stillness energy needing.
I’m speechless.

I can see that you are being flagged by the community, not moderators, and from your posts, can see why.

Wait : you’re saying that I should be happy and proud to have been scammed about the false advertising of a product NOT delivering what the company says it will ?

OK.
Clearly, I and you don’t live in the same world.

@parisienne17 . Sounds to me that your complaint is something you should take up with Samsung . Sounds like the Product is Faulty to me . This is a Public Forum related to the Use Of WFS . Please do not be Cross with us . You can be Cross here but not with us . Most do nothing but Help .

I am so aware of this that I childishly thought that taking up to samsung from it’s inside core of developers could be of some importance.

I have noticed that many, you are one of them, are nothing but of help here and thanks for that.

In this case Developers means Personal Development . You will notice on these watch Face Forums I call them Makers or Users . Some call themselfs Designers . I worked for them in my Career . A Designer is one who earns a living by Designing stuff .
I seriously think there is something wrong with your watch . It should be returned to the Vendor . I purchased my GW5 Pro from a Second User Shop . I was lucky enough to get an A Grade Watch . as I said with Native Faces I get 2% power consumption in a Full 24 hrs day ( 48% Total ) . During the night I wear my watch and get 1% over the 7 or 8 hours . As I said my watch was not new and I have been using it 5 months . If you do not get similar usage there is something wrong with your watch . I talk with many GW5 owners and we all have a similar story . I would say your Watch is stuck trying to update something . Personaly I woud cut your losses and do a Factory Reset . Do not let the Backup Load . Start afresh . Pay particular attention to the messages that come up on the Phone and Watch . Leave time for the onboard Apps to Update . It takes a good while . There is a lot of Stuff to download and set up .
