I’ve created my first watch face and im ready to publish.
I have the google play console account all prepared and ready.
I hit the publish button on the WFS application.
I then hit ‘Create new key’ before typing in anything.
I type in the same password in all 4 slots with only letters with different capitalisations, numbers, it begins with a letter and is no longer then 30 characters, following the rules i found on another forum post, I don’t even bother with using symbols.
As far as i’m aware I thought that I was creating the password, so how could it possibly be incorrect if i’ve not made it yet?
Unless i’m supposed to be getting all of this keystore information from somewhere else?
I’ve tried looking online for guides, and there are only guides that explain it properly for regular google play apps, not WFS apps, and these guides assume you’re a coder, which I am not.
Can someone give me a hint of what I could be doing wrong, it would be much appreciated.
Things you can try:
1 - (Probably will solve you problem) Uninstall the WFS, then delete the folder “WatchFaceStudio” from the user directory, search and delete any other related folder to the app, restart your computer, install the WFS, restart and try again (Don’t forget to save and do a backup of all you projects before doing anything!!)
2 - (Basically what the WFS does automatically) Create a keystore using command line and use it (the guides you mentioned).
2.5 - (If you don’t mind waiting) Open a ticket and wait samsung support to reply.
3 - (Unnecessary steps, only if anything else don’t work or if you are in a hurry) Install android studio, generate a keystore there and then uninstall it.
Ps.: Watchface are, in some way, regular apps. You are just using a tool (the WFS) to help you creating the “app” using drag and drop feature instead of “literally” writing the watchface and its editor, anyway, just explaining…
And it is unfortunate that the official guide like i mentioned says this ‘In the “New Keystore” dialog, define the required details and click OK’. Simply not metioning what any of the details mean and giving no indication of what to put in there.
I will give these options a try anyway. I’m not sure what a command line is but ill have to research it, i assume it’s not windows command prompt.
Thank you for the explanation on watch faces, this is what i was expecting but it’s good to hear it spelt out in plain text.
I backed up my watch faces, uninstalled WFS, used a program called ‘Everything’ and types in Watchfacestudio to find any files left over still after the uninstall and got rid of all that windows would let me, then I reinstalled the program but added a 2 in the folder location just to make sure it’s different, so it’s C:\Users\JAKEA\WatchFaceStudio2 instead of C:\Users\JAKEA\WatchFaceStudio now.
Not sure if that helped but it works at least. Hope this helps others!
