I’ve just begun learning how to use the Analog Clock feature (instead of the Radial Indicator feature) to make my analog clock hands. I see that it always gives you two hands for each hand-type (sec, min, hour), and one is turned off by default and labeled “shadow.”
Can someone explain how to use the shadow feature? I turned it on and tried moving it around, etc., but whatever I tried never resulted in a shadow for the hand.
Thanks!

Ok, I am a little behind the times in terms of updates to WFS because updates always seem to mess everything up for me so I am not sure what version you are using. It doesn’t matter anyway. For shadowing, it very easy to do and you can do it for radial indicator or Analogue clock feature. It also should not matter if you are just using the stock hands in the app or are making your own like I do. All you need to do is make a copy of your hour/minute/second hands and fill black and put it below your actual hand. Use whatever coding to make it rotate hour/min/sec and then simply adjust the Y coordinate of the black hand down a few degrees. Usually about 3-4 degrees for hour, and 5-6 for min (because on an actual watch the minute hand is on top of hour so shadow should be a little greater.), second hand would be even greater. Then make sure to make the opacity of the black hand 50%. The black hand will now show under the hand (at 50%) and create a realistic shadow effect. That’s pretty much it.

Thank you, I’ll give it a try. I appreciate the quick response!

That works great, but it brings up another question. If my watch face uses styles to offer multiple watch hand styles, how does that work? I set up my watch hand styles, but when I select one of the alternate styles, the alternate has no shadow of its own, but the shadow from the default style shows up.

Hope you can shed some light on how to do this! Thank you!

Don’t you make another group for the second set of hands with thier own shadow . So then colapse the groups and style the collapsed groups . I think Peter gave a response to this subject before .

I figured it out. Thank you, @russellcresser and @MergeLabs. Everyone here is so helpful!
As far as I can see, @russellcresser, you cannot create styles with one or more collapsed layer groups. You have to start with a single Analog Clock layer group and click on each hand within the group, then go to the Styles panel and add one or more styles for it from the Watch Hand folder. Once you’ve added all the styles you want for each hand (up to 9 plus the one you started with, I think) you merge them within the Style Customization Editor, and set the Style ID and Name for the merged group.
What I didn’t do correctly the first time was add styles for the shadow hands. For whatever dumb reason, I didn’t think I needed to do that, but once I did that, it worked perfectly.

In theory it is possible to change the style of the hands together with the shadow effect
if you notice well, by changing style, the shadow also changes

Oh! I always use my own images and custom formulas for rotation and shadow hands. I have much to learn.
