Latest WatchFace Studio 1.1.9 WearOS Status and Supported devices in the catalog Problem!

I created an extra graphic for the phone app. In any case, it is sad that we have had to draw attention to the errors in this Google-Samsung cooperation for months.

Watch faces made using WFS can be downloaded and installed for any Wear OS watch devices, regardless of manufacturer, as long as the device targets Wear 2.0 (API level 28) or higher.

From my experience and reading of other responses this is because phone and watch are not paired using the Wear OS app. Therefore, it isnā€™t registered the owners Play Store account as a device. After the user downloads one time it should be in the account and from then on seen as an available device.
I believe that this is the same if it is a Samsung Watch or OPPO watch.

In other words they need to use the Web Store, or open the Play Store from the Wearable app or watch app the first time. Maybe someone else can verify it, Iā€™ll ask around internally.

HI, i did a factory reset on watch4classic 46mm today and i have installed few watchfaces from watch directly.

See my screenshots the watchface published on 13Apr has the button to download on watch and the other doesnot which got published during this active wear os fiasco on 21 Apr

I have come to conclusion that yes as TS-Design mentioned all faces published by anyone after 14 Apr have these issues .

I have downloaded today new watchfaces from more than 20 developers and all there new watchfaces now have this issue so that means all suffer this experimental OS misery. Users and developers all of them.

Till pixel watch releases and eventually most of us will be so pissed by that time and from samsung watch . 6 months gone and the google samsung show is a mockery of testing a proto type device with proper functionality missing treating people as lab rats perfecting there next new device.

For 6 months our life as a user and watchface developer is waiting to get bugs fixed and then new update arrives with more broken things

  1. Broken AoD
  2. Broken Steps Complications
  3. Broken sync functionality
  4. HR issues
  5. Weather complication recently was fixed
  6. Lets see what is coming next with new update

If google or anyone offers a better device than this which will have compatibility with my Note 20.
As a user I will definitely think to shift if i would not have a broken playstore.

This watch4 has become more of a shiny toy and not a smartwatch. Basic functionality is compromised from the very start of the launch of watch4 series.

Thats my opinion.

Hi

Is this correct ? only 37 devices supported and can be downloaded only using play store on watch but not using phone play store app ?

When trying to download using phone, it shows incompatible. Is this a play store issue or do i need to change something ?

You all need to understand that this issue is not connected to OS.

Itā€™s a Play Console issue. Also, this issue is not connected to 14 Apr. It started around the 25th Feb 2022. It affects developer accounts. From 25th FEB, more & more accounts are getting this play console issue. Just read all posts in this thread & donā€™t try solving problems that not exist.

Everything watch face needs to be correctly published is to get proper review from testers. This bug causes that reviews are not really done so our wear OS apps are not available in Play Store mobile app. Currently, purchase from watch is not working too for corrupted apps as purchase can be finished only on mobile phone.

LOL they gave same ans to me as well, no single word has been changed, seems like Google just copying pasting emails to us instead of solving the issueā€¦

Hello Ron.
Iā€™m writing this because we developers urgently need Samsungā€™s help.
Since April 14, 2022, not a single new watch face has been available for download in the Google Play Store. It is only possible to download the Watch Faces with a PC.
Unfortunately, there is no one who wants to or can fix this even remotely.
Therefore I would ask you - if this is possible for you - to find someone at Samsung who has primary responsibility and who can discuss this intolerable situation with Google and fix it. Unfortunately, as a developer, we donā€™t have the necessary contacts who can or want to help us.
I canā€™t imagine that itā€™s Samsungā€™s intention not to offer new watch faces for Wear OS Powered by Samsung from us developers. Otherwise, the Galaxy Watch 4 and the following models would not be interesting for either developers or customers.
Thanks in advance.

I am trying to escalate this to people that can make differences. I think I finally have a full grasp on it, I had got distracted by some threads that I see now were off track and back to the basic issue.

Uploading to play store, gets the Active Status immediately after uploading, however, in list of supported devices, it is still under endless verification. so not available or searchable.
However there is a bug that allows them to be downloaded using a PC play.google.com search in apps but only for GW4 owners. You canā€™t download from mobile play store or watch play store.

I think that is the core issue and the one that I am pushing if I am wrong or missing something let me know.

Well Ron, I have never had this endless verification issue even once on any of my watch faces including latest ones published 3 to 4 days ago. I have 20 watches and 11000 other devices shown in Catalog of the faces.

It has never been the core issue for me. Yes my new watch faces cannot be installed via play store app at the moment. But installation via watch play store app, web play.google.com via pc or phone web browser on Watch4 and Tic watch 3 Pro is working confirmed. Also they can be searched easily on web play store and watch playstore.

Hi @r.liechty_SDR I think this is everything you need

Main problem, real main problem is that:
instant ā€œACTIVEā€ PLAY CONSOLE BUG causes that watch face or wearable app is not reviewed correctly (only some basic review ā€”> no one is testing wearable app)

This causes that wearable .aab file is not visible in mobile play store app (shows as UNSUPPORTED even when play console shows all devices as supported). It also cant be purchased directly on watch because purchase needs to be finished on mobile phone - where the app shows as unsupported.

Basically, we ask that Google allow users to download Watch Faces. :expressionless:

I know this is a bit off topic. But somehow not, because it shows how the Google testers work.

I received a 1-star review for a Watch Face today, which exactly reads:

ā€œCould not install this app On my galaxy 3 watchā€

You see the mistake, donā€™t you?
Iā€™ve reported this review to Google as I believe this review was either malicious or out of sheer stupidity.

Of course, my complaint was rejected as Google said this review was not in violation of their guidelines.
OK. So far so good.

On the other hand, today I pointed out to subscribers to YouTube (as far as I know it also belongs to Google) that the new Watch Faces can only be downloaded with a PC or laptop due to a bug in the Google Play app.
This comment was immediately deleted from YouTube. (Multiple times)
This is probably a violation of YouTube/Google guidelines.
I then rewrote the note without the words ā€œGoogle Play Appā€. And oh wonder: that was allowed.

Iā€™ve given up hope that this multi-billion dollar global player cares about any rules or problems unless they are their own.

This is probably how the problem with the incompatibility of our latest Watch Faces is dealt with.

I think there is another new problem. Google Play app does not list some of my watch faces that were previously listed in my catalog and there were no issue. Anyone else having this issue?

Not until now. But as Iā€™m used to from Google by now, the error will also appear for me soon.

It wonā€™t be fixed until a certain billionaire buys them LOL

I have passed that part but I still cannot find my watch face in the Play Store. even if I type the exact name of it.
I cannot find it on the watch, on the phone, not on the PC.

8 Galaxy Watch 4 models are supported. My watch is paired with my phone. Play store on the PC says that none of your devices are compatible on one of the watch faces. All of them are live in the store but there is no way for me to find them. I have to click on ā€œView on Play Storeā€ to see my watch face. I think I should be able find at least one of them when I search for a watch face or just going to the categories section. But no!
I still have many comments to read on this page.

I hope you have uploaded companion app for your watchfaces for them to be visible on playstore android app.

They will be visible on playstore web version but to get visible in playstore android app a companion app is needed otherwise your watchfaces will show incompatible on Android playstore app and could be downloaded only via web browser.

Sorry but, I donā€™t know how to make an application. I can only make watch faces and themes for phonesā€¦
What kind of app is it anyway? Something like Facer?
I think I should be able to at least find one of my watch faces on my Galaxy Watch 4.
Thank Youā€¦

It usually takes a day or two after being Active for it to show up in the searches because of how it is propagated. However as reported here. It is only viewable in the Web Store and only for Galaxy Watch4 devices.
On your PC open play.google.com/store and click on the settings icon for the store
Sign in - Google Accounts
If your watch isnā€™t listed as a device there then it wonā€™t be viewable.

Try opening the store from your watch to register it in the store
