Latest WatchFace Studio 1.1.9 WearOS Status and Supported devices in the catalog Problem!

I think Samsung should do something about this as well

The only thing Samsung can do is let Play Store know that this is an issue. Anything else could be perceived as collusion.

who have now rejected me as a developer for the 4th or 5th time without any reason).

This is cultural, oriental countries do not tell someone why they were not accepted, it would cause the applicant shame and shame them for doing so. It took the Developer Program team a long time to get the review teams to send out a notification.

Hello Ron. Thank you for your explanation. Yes, I guess that means nothing will change because Google is making it harder to sell Watch Faces on an almost daily basis. Itā€™s a pity that Samsung has no power of attorney. Maybe Samsung should have thought about that beforehand. The Playstore - as it is now - is completely unsuitable for Watch Face developers.

The development team cannot embarrass me in any way. My clients like my work and ask for Tizen versions. 20 of my 34 Watch Faces have now received great reviews on YouTube.
Iā€™m annoyed that about 2 years ago I fell for Samsungā€™s advertising campaign encouraging people to become a developer for Samsung watches. There was no mention of cultural differences. I was supposed to deliver technically flawless and unique watch faces. I did that.
Itā€™s very suspicious that I donā€™t get the slightest chance to offer my watch faces in the Galaxy Store.
Iā€™m from Germany and I already suspect that the Developer Program Team has something against Germans.
Well, such a suspicion arises when one invokes oneā€™s (for me alien) culture.

But one last thing, you Ron, youā€™re doing a fantastic job here. Many thanks for the great help.

Good afternoon. Everything works for me. Usually, on the second day after submission, the app is already approved and is available for purchase in the evening. Despite all the mistakes in submitting. The programs are simple without complicated operations. Which doesnā€™t always work properly. Make sure youā€™ve done everything right by signing up for the developer page. And I submitted all the programs without testing. The fact that apps in the Play Store are hard to find is a different story. U hope things will change soon. Have a nice day.

The probability that you will write here in a few days that you have the same problem as us is quite large :grinning:

Good night, good for you, hope it stays that way.

At least Samsung can do is bring its Galaxy Store to WearOS and let developer to sell their watch faces there instead of this messy Google PlayStore. When Galaxy Store Allow developers to publish Android Apps why not WearOS apps as well ? I donā€™t think it would be a big deal for Samsung but developers like me and all others will be so happy if Samsung at least can do this for us

On my latest watchface digitalbasic10 i saw wear os being active instantly the time i published it but the playstore approval stayed in review for 48 hours. Then watchface got published. I have around 11000 devices including watches show it active and available see my screenshots just checked.

I was really surprised at that fast approval.

But i am having a very strange issue with latest wfs when i switch my laptop on for the 1st time and open wfs and work on a face, 4 times it has happened to me that the wfs quit when i tried to run watchface and i lost all progress and nothing was saved . But when i save ot first time and then run on watch it doesnt force close the wfs , im using windows 10

Edit : also checked the latest one posted 2 days ago shows also 11000 devices supported which includes all wear os watches including oppo huawei mobvoi etc.

Visible on web and playstore app both. No issues.

On my last watchface it was also ā€¦ Wearos was immediately activated and the playstore approval stayed in review for 48 hours

The same with me. Wear OS was active immediately and after about 48 hours the watch face was activated. However, it has not been possible to download it via the Play Store app for a week (only via PC). Canā€™t find it in the Play Store search either.

yes you are right
i have also this noticed with mine and most of from other developers i downloaded. whether the helper app was or not along with watch face didnā€™t matter , i had to download watch face via web and funny thing is same watch face shows purchased on web play store where as the other helper app in play store android app shows it has not being bought and price is shown instead. This was not happening lets say around a month or so .

Sending to Google screenshots. And got this message from Google.
" Hi ŠœŠ°ŠŗсŠøŠ¼,

Thanks for your reply.

As checked, it appears that you have mentioned that you were using your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 to install your app. Please note as per this community forum that Samsung has made the watch incompatible with Googleā€™s Wear OS app. You must use Samsungā€™s app to pair your phone and watch.

For more information about setting up your Wear OS for Galaxy Watch 4 Series, please see this help center article.

I hope this helps. If you have any other concerns, please let me know.

Regards"

This was a bug in WFS 1ā€¦1.13 and fixed the next day in 1.1.14 release are you using the buggy version?

Nope Ron i am using the latest 1.1.14 version. I installed it on top of previous 1.1.13 version which was already installed on my windows 10 laptop.

Maybe i was too fast to say but my latest 2 watch faces that got published today and yesterday the playstore android app is no more showing install button for other devices :stuck_out_tongue:

I have recieved email from a user that the install button for other devices are not showing in play store android app so i guided him to install via web browser or watch directly and he was able to do so.

As your screenshots show the link between watch face app and the other helper app is broken. Now this makes all the effort of making helper app in Android Studio pretty useless except for being only a placeholder.

Iā€™ve seen that before, I think logging in via the Watch resolves it. But Iā€™m not sure that is it. In the Web store you can see My Devices and what ones are available it should be listed there.

But then again, it may be something entirely different considering how this thread is going. :frowning:

After ten days of back and fourth with Service Team and plenty of screenshots about that ā€œcompletelyā€ incompatible issue with the Play Store (Phone) since March 8th. This is the answer i got!!!

ā€œAs it turns out, Samsung has made the watch incompatible with Googleā€™s Wear OS app. You must use Samsungā€™s app to pair your phone and watch. Iā€™m happy to help with any issues Android Developers encounter when using Google Play Developer tools and services, however my team isnā€™t able to provide support for Wear OS issues.ā€

Check the LAST sentence!!! WTF is that!?

ā€¦ and finally here is the Google service team final answer after i had tried to explain it again where the issues are for me and for most of watch app Developers.

Answer:
As much as Iā€™d like to help, Iā€™m not able to provide any more detail or a better answer to your question. In our previous email, I made sure to include all the information available to me.

So there 3 reasons:

  1. Google service team simply donā€™t have the training for this type of problem AND they donā€™t have the authority to pass on the problem to an appropriate google team.

  2. They donā€™t care.

  3. Google rebuild the whole Play Store in combination with the Pixel Watch or they handle it with an seperate WearOS App where a App Store is included. ā€¦ With that maybe they broken things on the Console and donā€™t care about current problems. But sure this is pure speculation.

ā€¦

The situation is ridiculous. If Ronā€™s ā€œcontactā€ canā€™t help us, all we can do is wait for Google to release its own device and ā€œhopeā€ that the situation changes. But to be honest ā€¦ I donā€™t have a good feeling about it at the moment.

It seems reasonable that google is preparing playstore for pixel watch but breaking functionality is not acceptable.

I will shift to pixel watch if there would be proper support. Instead of dangling along with watch4classic if the memory is 32gb internal and there is support to make watchfaces for it via samsungwatchfacestudio which i think should be.

The battery life is frankly not very good. And if watchfaces support also goes down the drain. There is nothing left good in watch4

@Ron when i open playstore via web my watchface is available to all devices and is being installed by users. But the playstore app now doesnt show install button for other devices. The only way around at the moment is to install it via web browser or watch directly.

I think adding a proper playstore support direct in wearable app is the most important thing if Samsung wants developers and users to stay. google assistant has not been available as was promised and consumers including me are pretty pissed of all the lies which were told when this watch launched. JUST like when active 2 was launched and it was said BP and ecg will be available. Its been more than 2 years and still it hasnt properly reached and available in all countries. Lies can work for time being but not longer run.

IF I had a better choice in wear os. Since all other wear os devices at present have inferior specs. I would jump to it immediately with close eyes. tic watch 3 pro is not available in my country although i dont like its bulkiness, i would have bought it by now.

I dont consider myself a developer or neither it is a profession for me, i am just an advanced user frankly and making watchfaces is just a hobby for me. I just am here for fun and that seems pretty much fading at the moment.

I did a little research last night. As far as I could tell, ALL Watch Faces that were uploaded around April 14th, 2022 are incompatible with the Google Play app.
When I read here that Google passes the blame on to Samsung, Samsung in turn does nothing, I think that the ā€œWear OS powered by Samsungā€ project is doomed to fail.

Thatā€™s why I added the following graphic to my last Watch Face, which hasnā€™t been downloadable for over a week.

I also did similarly added a note and updated last 3 with this image
