I agree 200 percent with you. I am also tired of explaining users this is not any developers fault.
Now a days i have applied ignore filter for such complaints from users.
I simple am tired of telling people how to install even after launch of wear os3 two years back now that is a long period tonfix such nasty issues now its laughable.
Now latest issue we developers all faced was missing install button on phone playstore app for watch faces. Really why this issue cannot be resolved and time and again appears is beyond me and its not our fault. It took them 17 days precisely to fix the issue on this friday. Thatâs a bit much.
At times some users called me arrogant . But now i straight away tell them please write to Google ot Samsung this is what i cannot fix.
I have made install videos and Guides. which is not my job. I should be allowed to focus more on watch faces development then resolving install mess.
I am thankful to Samsung and Google as well for giving me opportunity to work. BUT seeiously when someone calls me out after making 150 watchfaces in last 2 years that my app has install issues rudely. I donot take such remarks period. Im not stupid or have lower IQ like few people out there who buy smart things and donot know how to use it .
This partnership of Samsung & Google has been financially beneficial at huge scale for them when compared to what all developers get paid in combine. Wear OS is much improved then it was before wear os 3 by Samsung.
So come on we are thankful to you but we are not responsible for 90 percent of issues the average user faces after joining wear os family. Please kindly fix at least at least install problems.
I totally agree with you and I can understand your frustration.
I wished Samsung did not abandon its own OS and Store for their smartwatches, but what is done is done. Google on their own could not make better watch nor OS than Samsung back then, as it cant now, so they dragged them down to their level and beat them with all the bugs and continuously escalating requirements.
I wish I could help, but as a hobbyist I can only sit sad and observe this whole mess, I do not mix myself into this. My voice means nothing, but I was hoping yours as some of the best designers has some weight. You are not alone, there are for sure many more than the few others here with same struggle.
Yeah as a programmer if my program has a bug and its due to sdk problem. I am expected to find the solution to the bug. By using alternative api or sdk.
Or hold off the release until the sdk is updated.
The issue will be on me if the bug is released.
But saying that we should be thank we get to use the tools for free
Hi, @r.liechty_SDR how long more do we need to wait for the wearable update. As a user it would be nice to also configure watch via app. Bigger ui etc. Compare to doing it on the watch.
Hopefully I can share it here; latest response from Samsung Developers Support.
We have communicated with the Galaxy Wearable team. They are in the process of the release of the issue.
As you know the market release, they need many steps that is why it is taking time. You will get the fix in this month.
This is just a plan and its changeable depending on the situation.
As far as I understand it is the Galaxy Watch Manager that is affected that is loaded when you link with Galaxy Watch(4 or 5) and it seems like that is being the first to be release. I check for that daily.
The Galaxy Watch6 manager is more permanent and they donât have any ETA for that yet.
By the way I donât know who is doing the update Google or Samsung. I assume this is something that Google has to fix as I was told that it the Android to Wear communications companion app SDK .
This is questionable. Pixel Watch companion app had this issue too from the release date. They fixed it with Pixel Watch companion app update.
So I think this is how it is: SDK changed with Wear OS 4 and manufacturers forgot to apply some patches to have WFF complication customization working properly. Google noticed this first based on Bug tracker so they adapted their Watch companion app. Now the same needs to be done by Samsung.
Whatâs unfortunate is that we need to wait so long for it while it was fixed by Google in like two weeks. Issue was definitely resolved with new companion app so the same will be either with Galaxy Wearable or Watch Manager apks.
Galaxy Store app is only available on Samsung Devices. You could try to update your Wearable App from Play Store.
As far as I am aware the complication fixes only have been completed for Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 I havenât seen any reports of the Galaxy Watch6 manager being updated yet.
You need to have the GW4 or GW5 as the active watch to get the update.
If you have GW4 or GW5 open the wearable app, click on the pancake menu, click on gear icon for settings in the upper right corner, Then click on About Galaxy Wearable. and it should search for an update for you.
Yeah Iâve got the Galaxy Watch6 Classic, and I can confirm there have been no recent updates to the Wearable app, and the complications still donât work using the app on my phone.
