I’m really angry. Whenever I send my watchface to Google Play for review and includes a heart rate measurement, they return it to me with a description: “your application does not provide Heart Rate as shown/described on the store listing”. What the hell should I do?
Interestingly, I’ve also had this (or very similar issue).
I had a watchface rejected yesterday. There was no detail in the rejection notice (or anywhere else for that matter that I can find) except for a sentence in the rejection email:
"For example, your application's heart rate functionality does not work."
I’ve built my watchface with WFS 1.0.3 and the heart rate functionality seems to work fine on my GW4 Classic, as does the tap-action button I’ve built-in to allow the use to measure heart rate.
I’m wondering if I need to remove the tap-action button. This doesn’t seem to function on an Android Studio emulator but then its scope is limited anyway. Has anyone else had this sort of rejection and managed to fix it such that the watch face passed review?
Unfortunately it’s now happening to all of the watch faces Ive been submitting, specifically saying heart rate doesn’t work on square devices. “For example, your application does not provide heart rate data on square face watch as shown/described on the store listing.”
I was able to get two faces through earlier this month, “Fred the Butterfly” and “Joe” but on three other faces I’m in a constant rejection pattern. I’m wondering if we can exclude the square watch faces if those are the problem. The Oppo Watch seems to be the only square one on the list. This started happening to me before I upgraded to 1.0.3. First rejection came in on the 16th for a new design called “Flip Out.” It was sent in the week before using 1.0.

So far, I have been able to publish two Watchfaces with HR and TAP function, including an update after WFS has been updated
See this Topic for the settings to use for Play Store apparently people don’t open the advanced settings and include not supported watches.

I don’t think excluding devices would help me though because when I check the “Device catalogue” I can see that the review failed on all the devices it says should be supported including the GW4.
It’s a bit frustrating that Google are telling me HR functionality does not work, but it seems to work fine on my watch. Why are we being asked to play “Guess what has failed in your review”?
So I’ll guess that it is the tap action - even though others seem to have got this to work - so I’ll remove it and add some text to the description to note that HR is checked every 30 minutes (as per my project settings), and resubmit it!
I feel that I must be missing something here.
It has to pass all you selected or it fails on all.
Having said that I think they are using a brick device and not an actual watch. The HR has to be worn to work I think on older wearOS devices they can simulate it but not with GW4.

There still seem to be problems with the HR measurement. The measurement froze with the first version of the WFS, but it was still possible to release it for WearOS in the Playstore without any problems, and a subsequent update with the second version was also accepted. But now I try for the 2nd time to submit a completely new WF with the second version of the WFS and it is rejected each time for Wear OS. In a developer group I have already asked if others also experience this problem and it was confirmed. With the new version created WF that include HR, they are rejected for Wear OS because the HR measurement allegedly does not work. WF without HR measurement were released for Wear OS.
Following the suggestions here, I saved the new build to version 1.0.3 of WFS. And google rejected it because HR doesn’t work.
I checked on my GW4 and it worked. Even in the description of the watch face, I informed how this function works. But according to google, it doesn’t work.
Next email from Google:
Hi Developer,
"Thanks for contacting the Google Play team again.
Please make sure the heart rate functionality works in the app on both round and square devices.
Please update your app to fix this issue and make sure to deactivate non-compliant App Bundle 3 and increment the version number before resubmitting.
Please let me know if you have any other questions"
How should I test on both devices???
How does it @Matteo_Dini? All his watchfaces has heart rate
@Raydesign
Sorry but I was not following the topic … If you mean why Google rejects the watch face, it is already written in the motivation: remove the square device from the list of compatible devices.
So there is problem! Square devices! OK, I’ll try resend watchface without square
Many thanks Matteo
We have found the issue. This is a problem in a watch device that do not support the off-body sensor and this should be improved in a second update sometime this Autumn.
It is recommended when you publish your watch face application exclude the devices that do not support off-body sensor. You can rebuild and update after the next WFS release.
We are aware that the OPPO Watch does not support the off-body sensor there may be others.

Thank you Ron! Excited about that update. As always, you rock!
Yes, I have rebuild and resent new binary without OPPO watch, so I’ll see. Thx you and @Matteo_Dini
I just dropped into the store 4 faces. HR only doesn’t work properly on squares. After excluding 2 oppo models, all faces come in without problem.
Hello,
The watch faces I sent to Google were rejected due to the heart rate monitor did not work. Besides, they said my application does not provide the ability to change colours. I tested on the emulator and I couldn’t see any problem. The problem started new. The watch face I sent to Google didn’t have a problem before. I thought that the problem can be the building process and I sent four times the last watch face and it was rejected every time by Google due to HR Monitör didn’t work.
PS: I selected only Samsung devices in the device list.
Is there any idea? Thanks.
Sincerely,
Cem Erman
Do not build with the HR setting for Continuous in the Project > settings > Health setting
Styles? I don’t think that is necessary unless you have two styles with the same color.
See this topic for some help in getting things approved.
Hope this helps,

Before that all was fine, in last two days they have rejected my two watchfaces because of this Heart rate issue, now I am thinking to trick them let’s see if that works Trick is don’t mention heart rate in store listing nor in screenshots at first now build your watchface without heart rate and upload on PlayStore when it be approved now silently release the watchface with heartrate dont update store listing wait if that update get approved, if it does now you update store listing i have not tried this idea but i will do it in evening! Till Samsung fix this watch face studio.
