Yeah … it looks like that now a companion/watch face combination just install the companion app and nothing more. Of cause without the Comp app still the old non visible problems.
On the non companion app version the user have still the “available on more devices” arrow but of cause … NO ENDUSER see that. Ultra BAD user experience.
wow, @ozan I cant see this dropdown menu in my google play app
EDIT:
Its back - they must change sth… I got dropdown menu on all of my watchfaces with companion app
Mine also fixed.
Unfortunately not here!
Update:
Now too!
I hope that this situation will stay
Just and FYI
I have gotten a new Watch5 and downloaded some old previously purchased Watch Faces and they said installed. But I click on them and they didn’t load. I wasted a lot of time downloading and reloading and after a while … I scrolled down in the Wearable App on my phone and there is a category Downloads and they were there.
I don’t recall this being necessary with the Watch4 The good news was that all the ugly pre-installed watch faces are not populated either.

Many users reported this at the Galaxy Watch 5. You couldn’t find the downloaded WF. Quite simply … since Watch 5 it is like this … tap Homescreen … wipe to the right … tap on Add Watchface (+ symbol) … Find the watchtface … Tap on it and the WF is added to the homescreen.
Thanks, I’ll ask Tony to update his blog about this.

After nearly a year since the watch face published on Google Play, I’m still having “Your device isn’t compatible with this version” issue. So far I’ve read and heard conflicted information about the solutions. Some says watch face aab needs a companion app and others say companion app is not needed with WFS 1.2.6+.
I’m not seeing the same issue with many fellow developers’ watch faces on Google Play. As many of you have mentioned about how bad Google Console Help is, I’ve contacted them multiple times and gone nowhere. Can someone please share their solutions?
My two sets of hardware:
- Fold3 paired Watch5 Pro
- S10 paired Watch4 Classic
Step 1.
I open https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.watchfacestudio.x9018 on the phones (both Fold3 and S10), which opens Google Play page that states “Your device isn’t compatible with this version” with no buy button.
Step 2.
Then I open the link with desktop Chrome browser, the page shows buy button but the drop down menu doesn’t show paired watch.
Step 3.
Open the same link with Firefox on mobile phone, now the buy button pull down menu shows the paired watch as an option.
Step4.
Go back to desktop Chrome, it how shows the paired watch as an option as well (go figure)
Step5.
Open Google Play page and it still has no option to buy.
You need companion app.
What does it do exactly? I see some watch face description mentions “download and open companion app to install watch face” But I don’t see any companion app to download and the watch face already listed as compatible to all my devices.
I don’t think you need a companion app any more, it was just a way to get your app visible in a broad search.
You most likely don’t have something set correctly in your play store console. “make sure the watch face is set as “Wear OS” under configuration> advanced settings → release type.”
you can start from the beginning but pretty much covers everything 6 - 9 I think cover the main area.

Thanks to your helps, the watches are showing up as compatible devices. But it’s still stating the phone is not compatible and it’s using tablet screenshots instead of phone screenshot on Fold 3.
How do I make the listing to show phone as compatible device, so it uses the proper phone screenshots ?
I’m closing this thread it is just too long and so many various topics.
