Wow . Let’s Have a look . :+1:

Well the Moon Tag issue I pointed out is Fixed .
However I am not sure the New Edge Complications are working properly on a watch . I presumed a test of the progress bars with Steps and Battery on WFS would show the progress on a watch but no . It is possiblecI am not using it properly . Perhaps someone could post something that works .
I was looking at the preset digital clock and noticed that the Fonts are not Monospaced so the Seconds dance about while counting . Well we all know how to get round that but the experiance is still a bit shabby .

In the new version of WFS, the Quadrant Edge complication addition is not very clear. There is no option to change the position and radius. That reduces the possibility of using it in design.

Yeah, it’s pretty much useless. I’m sticking with building them myself.

So is everyone ready to jump ship from 1.7.13?

I think it must have a memory leak in it. After the Studio is open for 30 minutes or so, I can’t close it without crushing with Task Manager…and performance gets pretty wonky the longer it runs.

I updated today. After some initial issues (which KE3JU helped me with - thank you!), it installed and seems to be working well. Obviously, as a lay-person, my usage is pretty simple stuff, so I can’t contribute any helpful usage problems here.

I do have a question I hope somebody can answer. I primarily create analog faces, and that functionality has changed with this version. Can you point me to a “how-to” for the new analog watch hands functionality?

I see that you can select “Analog Clock” and it automatically adds default hand styles. It also adds a second one for each hand called “shadow,” which is turned off by default. I found I can change the default hand style by right-clicking and selecting “Swap media” and selecting from the Watch Hand file.

I hope to learn:

  • How the shadow hands are supposed to be used;
  • Whether you can have more than 1 hand style for a face within a single Analog Clock group, or do you add another Analog Clock group for each hand style you want.
  • For existing analog face projects from 1.7.13, how do you go about changing the hands or adding a second hand style? Can you mix the old style hand layers with the new Analog Clock group layers?

Not quite yet. I’m using the new one just to see if it’s only the Edge Complications that are wonky, but keeping 1.7.13 handy on a back shelf for now.

I notice on the download page . The Roll back is 1.7.13 not 1.8.7 . I looked quickly at the Documentation for 1.8.10 at the New Edge Complications. I would say it is not Comprehensive .
We need to hear again from @Shamima or @imrulanwar836 .

UV still doesn’t work on watch, always shows 0 (tag: [WTHR_UV_INDEX].

Works in WFS preview.

Hello @russellcresser,
Hope you’re doing well.
Are you facing issues with new edge complications? Please mention the issue with sample watch face so that I could reach the team.

Thanks
Shamima

@Shamima Thanks for your swift response . We are out right now I will post a test later . It is a great shame these things were flagged on the previous topics about 1.8.7 . I interestingly the Issue I flagged personally was fixed but others like @masterboyhr and @Purrstachio2Cat seem to have been ignored .
The issue on the Edge complications is the Ranged Value Progress Bars do not show or operate at all . I am quite certain someone on your team could reproduce that in Windows 11 and a GW5 pro watch . But the point about that is are only testing GW7 ?

I have 1.7.13 and 1.8.10 launched side by side, and I’m not really seeing much of a difference, if any regarding the Analog clock stuff.

It all seems to work exactly the same. What exactly is different?

@KE3JU How do you run 1.7.13 and 1.810 on the same PC . The differences are quite small . for example look at the complications . 1.8.10 has two new ones .

I had this problem on 1.7.13 as well.

I had this problem today as well for the first time. I had to use Task Manager to shut it down. I’ll survive until they fix the Edge Complications - just build them myself, but this problem is not survivable at all. I keep it open too long.

You’re right, the changes for Analog stuff are fewer than I originally thought, but there are changes. My initial response to these changes was that they were more significant, but now that I’ve played around with it, I understand better.

The main change regarding the Analog clock is:
1.7.13 had a different, larger set of selections under Add Component > More. I already don’t remember the 1.7.13 label for the option in the More menu I used to select watch hands (it was the last item in the list), but I don’t think it was called Radial Indicator, as it is now.

That last option in the 1.7.13 More list was how I added hands. When used, the Properties panel contained a section called Radial Indicator where you set which type of hand it is (sec, min, hour), time zone, and other clock-hand properties. Also, the layers icon associated with those hands is a single radial indicator icon instead of an analog clock icon.

I honestly don’t know whether the Analog Clock option was present in the 1.7.13 Add Component list since I never used it. Hence, the differences I see when adding hands that way may not have changed at all.

The difference from my previous method is that when you use the Analog Clock option to add hands, it adds a default group of hands that are set up differently. There’s no Properties panel called Radial Indicator for these hands, just Hands Setting, which only affects movement. The layers panel icon for the hands is different. And there are 2 layers for each hand, with one being turned off and labeled …shadow.

I will probably use the Add Component > Analog Clock method to add hands, going forward. I’m assuming that’s the more correct method. However, that leaves me with the first 2 questions in my post above, which I’ll post separately since they don’t belong here. I figured out the answer to my 3rd question.

I had stuck shut downs on the version before 1.7.13 . Not had it since . Try remember to do a manual Save before exiting WFS .

I’m finding that it drops the connection to my watch after every Run on Device. Prior to 1.8.10, I could work all evening and use Run on Device multiple times without it dropping the connection or, occasionally, dropping it once out of 10-15 runs.
